Tara Hamilton is a Chicago based artist living in Roger’s Park. Inspired by the Japanese super-flat movement, Tara's playful designs imitate fantasy and whimsy. She explores themes of self-abandonment and self-reclamation in her work through the use of gentle pastels, and childlike characters .
Her use of recycled and mixed media materials, are a conduit for her inner child that chooses to seek silliness, and joy throughout her creative process. Her charming characters adorn gouache paintings, art prints, stickers, tote bags and apparel. Tara also explores the hobbies of her childhood - making jewelry using funky acrylic beads, nostalgic to those growing up in Y2K culture.
Tara hopes that her work can be a balm to the inner child of her audience; an invitation to bring lightheartedness and play back into everyday experiences.
