Illustrator Abbas Husain and printmaker Noreen Walls are married collaborators making screen prints by hand in their studio in Chicago. Their light-hearted work features surreal and funny combinations of creatures and colors. Some of their favorite subjects are sharks, whales, octopuses, and dinosaurs. With pencil & pen or digital drawing, Abbas draws the linework for the design and then builds layers (or separations) for each color to be printed. Noreen takes the separations to the press and prints each layer by hand, carefully lining up each color, using custom mixed acrylic inks on heavy 100lb. cover paper. Each print is numbered and signed by both artists.
